Is Sudden Weight Loss Something To Be Happy About?

In our effort to lose weight, we often end up being drastic about how food habits and tend to go for extreme measures like severe dieting. We tend to gain weight due to over indulgence on junk food and once I came to my senses about the health problems they were posing for me, I cut it out from my life entirely and adopted a whole new food plan to tackle with all the extra weight I had gained during that period. However, what we do not realize is that making any kind of sudden lifestyle change in a short span of time might have the opposite of the desired effect. We often start dieting to the point of starving ourselves and personally, I used to feel lightheaded all the time. I even started considering weight loss surgery like gastric bypass. Sudden weight loss can bring its own share of problems and it was only when I passed out once on the way out of my office did I start to rethink my lifestyle again. I was fortunate that my colleagues were there to take me to safety but realized I might not be so fortunate all the time.

So next, I started looking into the best ways to lose weight, but in a gradual manner, and here are some of the things I ended up incorporating in my lifestyle:

Running for weight loss: There is nothing better than going for a run if you want to tackle your weight gain. It is free, it is fun and it shows results within a couple of weeks. The best time to go for a run is of course, during the morning and it took me a while to pull my out of the bed in the first couple of weeks. However, after a while our body clock adjusts and we even start looking forward to it. Running has great benefits for the heart and it is the best cardio that one can have. We can start feeling more energetic and once I looked to the scale after a month, I had gone down 1.5 kilos.

Workouts to lose weight: There are some specific workouts to lose weight and although I was not very crazy about them, I did try out a few. Moreover, when we gain weight, most of the added fat tends to settle in some key areas of the body like the tummy, the waist, the thighs and the buttocks. Then it moves to areas like the upper arm and the calves. Workouts like stretching, lifting weights can really help with the toning of muscles and reduce the excess flab that we tend to put on. It is also a great way to get rid of cellulite and without a proper workout, it can be difficult to get back in shape. Losing weight is not just about reducing the numbers on the scale, it also helps you look good and feel confident and once you see the benefits, you will very much look forward to hitting the gym.

Yoga for weight loss

Yoga for weight loss: If you are looking for options for natural weight loss, then you have to try yoga. Yoga will not only benefit the body but it will also help ease and strengthen the mind. Yoga is a great way to relax and rejuvenate and the best part about it is that you can practice yoga from the comforts of your home. There are specific asanas like the Navasana and the Urdhva Mukha Svanasana and they focus on improving breathing and strengthening the muscles. However, it is advisable that you take help from the professionals regarding the right postures and movements before you start doing yoga completely on your own.

Weight loss exercise: There are many weight loss exercises that can help reduce body weight gradually but surely. One of the things to remember is that gradual weight loss is much better than losing weight all of a sudden- the results are more permanent that way. Do your research and figure out the needs of the body. If you are heavier at the bottom, choose exercises that will work the muscles in the lower half of the body. The exercise will also make you more flexible and quick on your feet and you will surely be impressed with yourself once you check the scales after a couple of months.
